We have the best recommendation! Visit Edinburgh in 2025 to enjoy the rich history and culture, get enchanted by the beautiful scenery and architecture, and maybe even go on a whisky tour! Plus, as an addition, the hilly streets of Edinburgh mean that you can even cross the gym off your to-do list!

As an encouraging guide, we have collected some of the best things to do in Edinburgh. Whether you choose to do all of these (might have some muscle pain by the end) or just a short selection, your memory of Edinburgh will most definitely be one to think sweetly of.

FOR THE BRAVE ONES - ARTHUR’S SEAT

If the new year has convinced you to do more exercise, then this activity is definitely for you. This highest point of Edinburgh allows you a mesmerising view of the entire city, surrounded by the sea. While the hour and half long hike may tire you out, that will be followed by beautiful scenery, opportunity to take your next Instagram photo, and of course, a great sense of achievement. But be mindful and hold on the your hat! It’s about to get very windy!

A HIKE FOR BEGINNERS - CALTON HILL

Climbing Arthur’s Seat may be on the resolution list for next year? Don’t worry, you can still enjoy the beautiful views from the less tiring but just as rewarding short hike to Calton Hill. Whether you’re travelling with children or you just simply don’t feel up for an hour and a half long hike, Calton Hill is a great alternative. The UNESCO World Heritage Site, located in the city centre, offers you a unique view of the city and an insight into historic monuments, such as the National Monument, the Nelson Monument, or the City Observatory.

A VISIT THAT CANNOT BE MISSED - EDINBURGH CASTLE

History nerds! This is your time to shine. Edinburgh Castle not only hosts the tales of a military fortress, but you can learn how war prisoners were kept captive and how the royals enjoyed their luxurious lives.
The combination of military prison and royal residence offers you a unique experience, which will make you question whether you want to build that time- machine to travel back to the olden days.

RAINY DAY - NATIONAL MUSEUM OF SCOTLAND

A rainy day is not unique in the city of Edinburgh. But the National Museum of Scotland, that will act as an exciting shelter from the glum weather, certainly is.

Each floor in this massive building introduces a different era, starting from the cave men on the basement floor to modern art on the top floor.

The free entry to the museum will offer you an insight into the history of fashion, telephones, cars, airplanes, bicycles, and so on! While the enormous size of the museum makes it very hard to discover everything, it is certainly worth a try!

And don’t worry, not even your children will nag you that it’s time to leave! The National Museum of Scotland offers several interactive games for children, whether that being flying a hot balloon, seeing what animal your weight equals, or just saying hi to lifestyle giraffes, elephants, and lions.

ADULTS ONLY - WHISKY TOUR FOR DRINK LOVERS

Last but not least, the Scotch Whisky Experience is a great way to end a visit to Edinburgh. You can learn about distilleries and the distilling process with one of the
several tours of your choice! And, of course, there is nothing like learning from first-hand experience, so all tours offer you some whisky tasting! But make sure you plan a great restaurant before the tour though, you wouldn’t want to start dancing in the middle of the Royal Mile

And how can you make sure your trip to Edinburgh is amazingly complete?
