SPRINGTIME IN EDINBURGH: A GUIDE TO GET THE MOST OUT OF YOUR SPRING TRIP
Edinburgh is a treat in itself, regardless of the weather. However, visiting the city in the spring hides extra treasure for you and your travelling companion. The sun is out, the trees are blooming, and, finally, you won’t get blown away even if you try to climb Arthur’s Seat. But what can you do to bring the most out of your trip to Edinburgh?
VISIT EDINBURGH’S BEER GARDENS
How else would you celebrate the occasional good weather in Edinburgh, than with a drink in your hand, in a lovely beer garden? It makes for perfect down-time after a tiring hike to Arthur’s Seat and may even give you energy to explore the hidden alleys of the old city.
For instance, Indigo Yard, Beehive Inn, and The Pear Tree are all centrally located pubs with beautiful gardens that are perfect to enjoy a refreshing beer, Scottish whisky, or a cocktail (after all, you are on holiday, you should treat yourself).
HAVE A PICNIC IN THE MEADOWS
If the weather allows (as, unfortunately, the arrival of spring doesn’t guarantee sunshine) a picnic in the meadows should not go missed. Whether you are travelling with family, your spouse or friends, the astonishing pink trees and the enormous green field provide a faultless opportunity for spending time outdoors.
VISIT THE MUSEUMS
Rain in Scotland is not extraordinary. Even when you think it is time to take off that jacket and soak more sunshine in, rain can surprise you in an instant.
Luckily, the whole city is prepared for that. The National Museum of Scotland awaits everyone of all ages and interests, whether that being animals, vehicles, the history of phones, planes, or modern art. And what’s even better? Entry is free! So, if you are out and about sightseeing Edinburgh and you get caught by the rain, hurry up and rush to the museum. It will make you question if that rain really was a curse.
But, if you somehow discovered all levels and every room of the museum (please do let me know if you did, because I think it’s impossible), there are other plenty of other exhibitions in Edinburgh that will interest you.
For aspiring doctors, or those simply interested in surgery, the Surgeons' Hall will be a fond experience. Or, if you are more of an art-fan, you will love the Scottish National Portrait Gallery and the Scottish National Gallery.
EXPLORE THE DEAN VILLAGE
The Dean Village is always a safe bet when visiting Edinburgh. Whether it is snowing, raining, or the sun is shining, (all possible in the matter of a single day), the Dean Village is a beautiful, rare finding in a busy Edinburgh.
So, if you want to break away from noisy Princes Street and enjoy peace and quiet, explore Dean Village’s wonderful calmness.
AND, WHILE YOU’RE IN EDINBURGH, THE BRUNTSFIELD PROVIDES THE PERFECT ACCOMMODATION FOR A MEMORABLE DESTINATION.
